In July of 2018, a transdisciplinary research team from One South conducted the multi-country baseline study of the GREAT project implemented by Right To Play in Ghana, Rwanda, and Mozambique.

Through funding from Global Affairs Canada, the Gender Responsive Education and Transformation project (GREAT) aims to improve the quality of education for 221,486 girls and boys in Grade 1- Grade 6. The project will train and support 2,974 teachers in target schools to adopt gender-responsive play-based learning in their classrooms.

The Baseline Study reviewed whether assumptions underlying the project’s theory of change could be verified across countries, discussed the intersection of barriers and characteristics on learning and attendance of boys and girls and drew lessons to inform future project implementation. As a secondary objective, the study aimed to understand educational marginalization in each of the three countries, by identifying the specific barriers that result in reduced educational outcomes. This approach is in line with the ethos of the global sustainable development goal of ensuring inclusive and quality education for all, focusing particularly on those who are most marginalized.

He chose the brick breaker format because it needed only one axis of input — left and right. The trackball was perfect for it. More precise than a D-pad, more tactile than a touchscreen. Move your thumb a millimeter to the right, the paddle slides. Flick it, the paddle snaps. The feedback loop was immediate and physical in a way that touchscreen controls still struggle to replicate.

Most horror games define survival in resources: ammunition, health packs, daylight hours. SURVIVE MIN strips every one of those away. This isn't a typical survive min game of inventory and escape — there is no weapon. There is no exit door. The only resource you carry into the room is your ability to read a voice that changes temperature without warning.
