Research Analyst (Remote)
One South is currently seeking three remote research analysts to support our on-going client engagements.
These positions are ideally suited for recent undergraduates or current graduate students with an interest in international development and monitoring and evaluation.
Candidates should have had significant exposure to a wide variety of either quantitative or qualitative research methods and approaches.
The three successful applicants will provide part-time desk-based support to consultant teams engaged in monitoring and evaluation engagements in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Specific details for each of the roles are listed below:
Research Analyst (Quantitative)
Responsibilities:
- Providing desk-based support to consultant teams engaged in on-going evaluations, under guidance of team leaders
- Merging large and complex datasets
- Producing analysis outputs and frequency tables as requested
- Conducting data verification and validation processes
- Operationalizing indicators following provided protocols
- Programming primary research instruments into database management/entry systems
- Reporting on tasks conducted and actively responding to feedback
Essential:
- Intermediate knowledge of applying statistical research methods and producing and interpreting outputs
- Intermediate knowledge and experience using SPSS
- Experience conducting verification and validation processes on complex datasets
- Experience and comfort using Microsoft Excel
- Ability to closely follow data management protocols
- Reliable internet access
Desired:
- Experience and comfort using Microsoft Access
- Experience and comfort merging datasets manually
- A strong interest in conducting applied research in a collaborative setting
Research Analyst (Qualitative)
Responsibilities
- Providing desk-based support to consultant teams engaged in on-going evaluations under guidance of team leaders
- Transcribing audio files
- Coding transcriptions using several coding approaches (descriptive, eclectic etc)
- Drafting context briefs for consultant teams
- Reporting on tasks conducted and actively responding to feedback
Essential:
- Intermediate experience conducting qualitative research
- Intermediate experience coding and analyzing qualitative data
- Experience producing qualitative analysis outputs
- Experience using qualitative analysis software (e.g. NVivo QDA Miner)
- Ability to closely follow data management protocols
- A background in anthropology, psychology, ethnography, qualitative research or other relevant areas
- A strong interest and experience in developing contexts
- Reliable internet access
Desired:
- A strong interest in conducting applied research in a collaborative setting
- Experience working in a developing context
